Monsterdon is a weekly event on the fediverse, hosted by @Taweret@octodon.social, where people watch a monster movie together by posting to the #monsterdon Hashtag.
Joining
- Movies usually start at 6pm (pacific time) on Sundays
- Search for #monsterdon or #monsterdonAlert to find that week's movie
- Movies are available freely somewhere, usually on archive.org or Tubi (see Torrenting archive.org movies )
- Start the movie, try to keep synchronized in time, and post with public Post Visibility using the
#monsterdonhashtag!

Due to a quirk in how mastodon handles Post Visibility, monsterdon tends to be very noisy - posts have to use public post visibility in order to appear on the timeline, but all public posts including replies are also added to the Local Feed. There is no current method to post only to the #monsterdon feed (see Fine-Grained Post Visibility).
People who don't want to see monsterdon posts should add a filter for "#monsterdon" set to "hide completely" from all desired contexts.
